| As advertised! Low
speed handling and
docking is now
outstanding without
thrust. Reverse is
actually reverse
instead of an
uncontrolled slide.
Very tight high
speed turns that'll
put your friends in
the floor if you
want. Also very
easy to install.
If you've ever
drilled a hold and
tightened a bolt,
you can do this job
properly in about
30 minutes. Great
product, Jeff, I'll
recommend them to
everyone I meet. |

| With some great
advice and fast
support from Jeff,
I installed the
fins in about 30
minutes. The Cobra
Jet Steering is
fantastic. The ski
turns on a dime and
nice hole shots.
While idling in the
Marina the ski is
very easy to steer
around the tight
spots. Loading the
ski on the trailer
is a snap. I would
recommend this
product to anyone
that wants to add
handling to their
ski.

| Awesome difference
in handling,
especially at low
speeds. No loss of
fun factor at full
throttle. You have
an excellent
product Jeff, and I
will pass on my two
cents to anyone
that will take it.
Thanks! |

| All I can say is
that the fins work
exactly as
advertised!! In a
world where this is
such a rare
commodity, Jeff
should be
commended!
- Arrived on
time
- All components
included and
instructions
clearly defined
- Easy to install
(less than 30mins
even for a
mechanically
challenged
installer...
Me!)
- Within seconds of
initial use,
prooved to provide
excellent low speed
control and within
minutes, excellent
high speed
control.
- Returned to dock
without one cross
word between
Capitan and first
mate!!
GREAT WORK JEFF!!! |

| I purchased the
Cobra Jet Steering
for my Yamaha AR
230 HO last week.
My son and I
installed them with
little difficulty.
WOW...what a
difference! I had
my doubts about the
boat BEFORE we
installed the fins.
After our first
outing I was
hooked! They work
as stated. Slow
speed docking and
trailering was MUCH
improved and high
speed turning was
crisp. I would
recommend them to
anyone! I give
them a 10 rating!!!
I think with the
twin engines and
the Cobras that our
boat is the most
maneuverable boat
we've EVER
owned!
The ONLY suggestion
that I would have
is that the
instruction sheet
needs a bit of
improvement. Size
of drill bits and
location of screws.
Jeff you need to
show details a
little more
clearly. Even so,
we had them on the
boat in less than
an hour. I really
studied the
situation before
drilling.
Carl from Texas
Thanks for the
testimonial Carl,,
actually the drill
bit sizes are noted
on the instruction
sheet and each
screw, nut, washer
and their location
are shown on a
diagram on the back
of the instruction
sheet. |

| I purchased the
SeaDoo Jetboat
primarily because
the waters here in
Bradenton are so
shallow. Jeff put
on the steering mod
and the handling is
so much better. It
has maneuverability
at idle whereas
before the mod, at
idle the boat was
basically a bathtub
on the loose.
I cannot
recommend the
conversion highly
enough. It was
quick and
professionally
done, and made a
real difference in
the usability of
the SeaDoo.
note: this was the
utopia with twin sc
ic 4tec engines. |

| I am a high school
math teacher who
after a year of
researching boats,
finally decided on
the AR210, which
came out on top
with the options,
reliability, and
low maintenance.
However, I quickly
realized that for
all it had in pros
it really lacked in
steering (big con).
But, I came to
believe that this
would be as it was
until I got used to
it. Well, after
having the boat in
the water for the
2nd time and
running into a dock
latter scratching
the side of the
boat, I knew it was
time for some
additional
research. I
learned about the
Cobra Steering from
the Yamaha jet
boater’s forum,
took a chance (and
more money) and
wound up with the
boat I had
originally
researched (with
nothing in the con
column). Easy to
install (and yes, I
was scared to drill
into my newly
scratched boat but
a vow was made and
additional cash
paid - teacher)!
A truly great
product!! |
Sat Jan 06, 2007 19:20:16 Jeff Junker Yamaha SX230 (2004)
| Jeff what a great
product. After
three seasons of
not having the fins
I accepted the
handling of the
craft for what it
is. A Jet Boat. It
is a fun boat to
cruise in, but now
it's even better. I
don,t have to worry
about maneuvering
in heavy boat
traffic. It now has
reverse and the low
speed handling is
great. At WOT it
tracks tighter and
turns chrisper. The
rear end is not as
loose when running
through wakes. Jeff
thanks for all your
hard work in
perfecting this
upgrade to these
types of water
craft. |

| In May I decided
to purchase a sea
doo 4 tec ltd to
use as a demo for
my steering in
place of the opas,
since then I have
logged over 150
hours on this ski
with the conversion
to my steering.
I drove the ski
with the opas on it
first and found
that it worked but
it seems to over
steer at high speed
and in chop it was
really annoying as
it seems to hold
the ski back in
chop, it was also
hard to get it to
steer in reverse. I
feel that opas is
better than nothing
and it does work
but it has a few of
draw backs, for the
recreational skier
it should be fine ,
it does seem to
scrub a little off
the top speed
though.
Doing the
conversion to my
steering was not
simple due to all
the hardware and
holes sea doo uses
for the opas.
After removing all
the opas hardware,
I built 4 block off
plates from
stainless steel and
made gaskets to
block off the holes
in the hull, there
are block off kits
out on the market
for that purpouse
as lots of people
remove their opas
steering.
I also had to
remove the large
boss on the bottom
of the stock nozzle
where the opas tie
rods connect.
Once this was
completed I
installed a cobra
jet king cobra unit
to the steering
nozzle, this did
not go below the
bottom of the ride
plate but is
actually even with
the bottom. I
still get people
that just don't
understand HOW this
can work at high
speed if the fins
don't go below the
boat,, it's simple
the hull displaces
water once the
water gets past the
ride plate IT rises
up and contacts the
fins, the next time
you follow a boat
that is moving fast
look at what the
water does as it
comes out from
under the rear of
the boat.
Once the ski was
fitted with my
steering I took it
out to see how it
would respond .
Reverse is now
precise, high speed
response is great
the jerking in chop
is gone, In
comparison the opas
did respond better
on off power,
meaning that
driving wide open
and letting go of
the throttle while
turning opas had a
better
influence.
The cobra steering
did give the ski a
power steering
effect at high
speed, the faster
you go the easier
it is to turn the
steering, this is
always the result
due to external
water forces
counteracting the
force of the jet
pump on the inside
of the steering
nozzle.
I haven't really
had the time to do
any videos however
while out on shell
island in June just
a few weeks after
buying this ski, a
relative took some
impromptu videos
that I put on
youtube.
When the weather
gets a bit warmer I
plan on doing a
real video. |
